Student killed while trying to save younger brother
A 20-year-old undergraduate of the Yaba College of Technology identified as Bukola Ajayi, has reportedly lost her life while trying to save her younger brother after a speeding trailer rammed into the tricycle they were inside.
According to an eyewitness who posted the incident on his social media account, the deceased was taking her younger brother to inside the tricycle popularly called Keke Marwa on the morning of Tuesday, February 7, 2017, when the speeding trailer rammed into the three-wheeler at Ekoro Junction in the Abule-Egba area of Lagos State.
The trailer, it was gathered, lost control and was heading for the tricycle when Ajayi reportedly pushed her brother out of the tricycle and out of harm’s way but it was too late for her to escape as the trailer crushed her to death.
The driver of the trailer was said to have escaped from being lynched, as an angry crowd tried to set the vehicle on fire but for the timely arrival of the police from the Oke Odo Division, officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), who did everything to restore order.
